I am going to try making homemade wine, I’ve wanted to for years.
There is no good info. on which fruits work best.
What do you suggest? Do you have any experience with any specific fruits?

For the best blending wine use Rhubarb.
To start with buy a kit or for best first results buy grape juice.
When you have succeeded with this then almost any fruit can be used for wine making.

Always grapes are related with wine and liquor even from the time of old goddesses so grapes are the best and you can use other berries which have juices like grapes means any berry you like to taste you will enjoy like nectar ( Holy Water) in your wine.

Grapes are traditional. Potatoes (yeah, I know they aren’t fruit) are the cheapest; you can even eat the boiled potato. If you can get a copy of First Steps in Home Winemaking, by Berry, that will give you, IMHO, the best introduction. Just remember to stick to food-grade plastics.
Once you get a trial run or two behind you, the sky is the limit. I’m very fond of elderberry wine and lemon wine.
