Once you open a bottle of sherry, will it keep or is it perishable like wine?

Recipe calls for cooking sherry. All of the reviews say buy the real thing, it tastes better but I only need 1/4 cup. Will the sherry keep or do I need to dump the remaining. Same question for marsala wine – what is the shelf life once bottle is opened?

Sherry keeps better than wine. Red wine over time maderizes, the process that turns wine into madiera, a form of sherry. Sherry, however, has already maderized, so it keeps–not forever but few years if stoppered.
