How do you make homemade wine using kool-aid?

June 24th, 2010  |  Published in Wine  |  8 Comments

I already have the kool-aid packets and most of the materials, but what I really want to know is all of the materials that are actually needed, and how to do it. My friend and I are looking for something cheap and easy.

Kool-Aid is basically sugar water. You can’t get wine from Kool-Aid. Wine is made from crushed/pressed grapes and sugar and yeast is added to aid in fermenting and then it is barreled and let to age. You can make home wine, but the few I’ve tried were terrible. Seems to me you and your friend may be underage and any kind of alcohol consumption would be illegal.

You are probably too young to drink in the 1st place. But making an alcoholic beverage is much more complicated that sugar, water and kool-aid.

don’t listen to any of these F***s. you can make kool-aid wine. you can make wine from anything, even flowers so all of those people who ripped on you for this question they can piss off.

a very cheap and very easy way to do this is have a gallon jug, sugar, your kool-aid packets, a balloon and some yeast (can easily be picked up at a brewery store or bakers shop. try to use the brewery yeast, the yeast they sell you is meant for making alcoholic drinks).

fill your jug with water, add sugar and add the kool-aid packets. mix this together very well and then add your yeast. poke some holes in the balloon and place it over the top of the jug (the holes allow the gas that is a byproduct of fermentation to escape and are small enough to keep stuff out!). allow to sit between 1 to 2 weeks to get the BASIC fermentation done. after that you can have some happy drinking times :p or you can let it sit longer to “age”.
NOTE: the more sugar = more alcohol content. yeast eats the sugar and leaves alcohol behind. too much sugar though could give you a very very sweet alcoholic drink.

hope this helps. this is WAY cheap but still produces you what you want though it might not taste quite as good.
